Engagement with communication ethics diversity begins with understanding differing basic approaches to communication ethics. The several approaches talked about in chapter 3 were very insightful and made me realize the complexity of communication ethics in theory and action. In each of the approaches they still protect and promote a given sense of the good.
I liked how they gave examples about alcohol because it is a very controversial topic and there are many different viewpoints on it. The contextual communication ethics approach stood out to me because a persons culture has a big influence on how they view topics such as alcohol or certain communication styles. To some people alcohol may be a part of their culture but to others it is a disgrace if anyone drinks or consumes it. With topics like these it is important to be open minded and understanding of other viewpoints especially when it's based on culture, setting, or past experiences.
