Chap. 5 - Dialogic Ethics

While reading chapter 5 and thinking about how this moment in history likely contains more difference than any other moment, I really thought about the dialogues I have in my everyday life. As we have previously read, this time in history is new and different from previous decades and centuries in that people are thinking differently and are expressing different views in various ways. Whether it is differing opinions about a certain religious belief or what sports team is the best, society is always seeing new dialogues take place. Not only are people talking in person, but they are able to communicate through technology in such innovative ways, which also contributes to the unique time we are currently living in.

I think about my day and the conversations I had about what is important to me as a senior as I get ready to graduate. While some of my friends stressed the importance of focusing on schoolwork I would argue that it is important to have a well balanced life as this is the end of a certain type of experience, an undergraduate career. We were able to share our different views through a face to face dialogue. We could have also discussed this topic over text message, over the phone, through Facebook messenger, and the list goes on, but what is important is the root of our dialogue and how we could have a conversation about our thoughts on life at this moment in time.
