Chapter 5 goes into grave detail about the role that dialogic ethics play in healthy communication. Dialogic ethics forces communicators to find a common sense of good within communication while having a conversation. On page 82 Gadamer describes dialogue as a meeting of respectful differences. Forming an ethic around Gadamer's definition of dialogue is sure to create healthy communication between two people with different narratives. Obtaining a dialogic ethic opens the door for communicators to learn from one another.
I see dialogic ethics displayed everyday in a boys mentoring group that I lead. The boys explain how they all fit into certain social groups for how they are perceived without even considering what their personal beliefs are. This display of dialogic ethics reinforces the ideas of Arendt as the children show signs of being why she titled "parvenu", which is a person willing to give up all in order to belong to a given social group.
