Chapter 6

Depending on the weekly reading, I am eager to talk about the relationship between public and private space, for with the dramatic development of technology, especially the popularity of social media, the boundaries between private and public life becomes ambiguous.  Personal post might become a top discussion among the public, and individuals seem enjoy the feeling of being famous by posting pieces of their lives to the social media.  Meanwhile, as process of public decision making contains more uncertainties with the fluid members of groups.  For example, a female who is good at make-up and posts her make-up video to YouTube might become famous in few weeks, and both her fans and opponents can dig out all details in her life, from her personal location to her make-up tool, even her habits and family members, which may becomes a issue discussed in public space.
Referring to the differences between public and private space, it says " Differentiation of public and private space asks us to reflect on the private information we want to share with the world. In an
information age, we find others willing to share all sorts of information with the public, making the private seem almost nonexistent. Consider the extent to which private conversations are made
public through cell phone conversations, often losing differentiation between public and private space" (P 101).  And the relationship of public and private space is  “communication ethics in private life depends upon the strength of communication ethics in public life” (P 105) as described in the weekly course reading.
As I can comprehensive, it is favorable for people who share their life in their own private online spaces, and it is favorable that those personal posts receive amount of admiration.  The only problem is, who can protect those "suddenly famous" people's private spaces.  We are uncertain that whether those people who are suddenly known for people enjoy these great changes in their lives and whether there are some people attack or blackmail them after knowing their private information from their personal posts.  Who can protect them and where there are regulations to protect them may be a big problem need attention.
