Organizational communication ethics is the Good that exists in a specific organization. Organizational communication is a combination of formal and informal relationship characteristics. There can be a difference within an organization of hierarchy and how intraorganizational communication is affected by this difference. There can also be a difference in the Goods of organizations that contribute to their uniqueness. The Good of one organization is going to be different from that of another. A dwelling place references these unique Goods. A dwelling place is formed through the communication within the organization. The Good of the dwelling place relies on its members.
One of my dwelling places is at my job. There has been a Good formed between members that have been in this organization for a longer time. Part of this Good is that we are all trying to get our things done while being able to still talk on personal levels with each other. As new people join the organization, the Good may be slightly shifted to more personal conversation or more work-oriented. Our bosses are changing almost every semester, and their power affect the Good of our dwelling place greatly. Our dwelling place is much more relaxed, comfortable, and personal when we have a boss that takes notice to our organizational Good and conforms. However, there have been bosses who do not approve of our laid back style. The figures of power may change the Good to a more "task focused, no relationships" style which negatively affects everyone. When these bosses try to disrupt our dwelling place's Good, the older members of the organization don't let these rules get in the way of the personal conversations. The Good is preserved in the majority of the members based on experience, but some compromises are made in order to continue the traditions.
