Intercultural Communications

Intercultural communication ethics protects and promotes the good - the culture itself.  It is our responsibility to learn about other cultures without presupposing that each culture is simply equal in ethical importance to another (155).  Basically it says that one culture does not trump another culture.  Also that culture is a good that shapes a population and has consequences for the population (155).
One aspect that intercultural communication is cultural differences.  This is the conflict between a larger population for example in schools, communities, or on a larger scale regions in the world.  Yet difference is known as a norm in intercultural communication.  Culture is the connection between one another to help us become closer.  Diversity will never cease but our awareness of diversity will increase (158).
This weekend a much smaller difference occurred with one of my cousins.  He comes from an all Caucasian family, he is three years old and he has not had much exposure to other races or other people in general.  I was reassured that I was not the only one who he showed discourse towards.  But he did not want to be around me because he has not seen someone who looked different than him.  It is understandable that he is still young and has not been exposed to other cultures and other people yet, but it made me feel uneasy knowing that one of my family members was very uncomfortable towards me.  When discussing the differences between intercultural communications my situation does seem to fall into the lines of intercultural communication ethics.
